Product Review: The Face Shop Real Nature Honey Face Mask

Product claims: A moisturizing mask that will give you radiant and illuminated skin. This nourishing mask uses honey extract to reveal younger looking and invigorated skin.

Ingredients: Water/Eau, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Alcohol Denat., Honey Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Trehalose, Propanediol, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Dimethicone, Allantoin, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Caprylic/CapricTriglyceride, Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Ethylhexylglycerin, Potassium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Disodium EDTA, Parfum/Fragrance

Fragrance: This mask has a smell that reminds me of orange blossom honey with a bit of an alcohol scent mixed in. It smells nice and is not too strong. Fragrance is also an added ingredient.

Texture and application: It feels like a typical sheet mask soaked in a thin, watery essence. It does not come with a plastic backing. The mask itself seemed quite thin and delicate (I accidentally tore it a tiny bit) and was a bit floppy and hard to put on my face. Once I got it on though, it clings perfectly fine. The instructions say to wear it for 10-12 minutes. I wore it for 10 minutes before removing it and it was still moist. I could probably have worn it longer until it started to dry, but my face was starting to itch. The essence is sticky and my face stayed mildly sticky the whole night despite trying to pat/rub it in.

Packaging: This sheet mask comes in a flat, typical, sheet mask packaging that tears open at the top.

Performance: This mask didn’t seem to do much, if anything at all. I didn’t feel like it was very moisturizing and it didn’t brighten my skin. Honey is usually soothing too but I didn’t notice any soothing benefits. The only benefit might be that the mask was a tiny bit hydrating, but barely. After using it, my face also felt itchy although I didn’t see any visible irritation on my skin.

  • Nothing really, other than a mildly pleasant smell

  • Made my face itchy
  • Relatively high in alcohol
  • No moisturizing/hydrating/brightening/soothing effect
  • Sticky

Final thoughts: I give this product 0/5. I did nothing for my skin except make me itchy and sticky. It was pretty disappointing.

My skin: Combo, oily t-zone and dry everywhere else, clog prone, acne prone on my chin
